The Giver Spring Break Assignment

Spring Break Assignment!!!

Congrats on making it to spring break! You have officially completed 33 weeks of school (I think)…when you get back, you will have ONLY 7 weeks left. Because I am the MEANEST teacher ever, I am giving you an assignment over spring break. (This will also be on my website if you lose this…cough Charlie cough…) Over break, you need to read Ch. 2 AND 3 in The Giver (pages 11-25). But that is not all. You also need to look up the following words and write down a definition IN YOUR OWN WORDS! Do this on a separate sheet of paper.

Palpable (pg 3)
Distraught (4)
Disposition (7
Transgression (9)
Fret (14)
Chastisement (20)
Petulantly (22)
Droning (22)
Tunic (24)

When you get back, you will have a quiz on these words so I HIGHLY SUGGEST memorizing the definitions and a sentence. This is not hard work everyone, so I fully expect everyone to have this completed. We have made GREAT improvements lately so keep it up over break!

                        Enjoy!!!                                    -Rivera

Tech Assignment

Just a heads up: This assignment will count as a Science grade, a Tech grade, and a Research grade...so don't mess it up!

Look up "Biomes" on the internet and pick 3 that you think are interesting. Using another sheet of paper/index card, write down in ONE sentence why you picked the one you did. Once you are done with these 3, then you are done with this assignment and can go to a school-appropriate website until class is over.

All

Class,

I am extremely disappointed in news I have just heard. I find it VERY disrespectful when I am at a PD all day FOR YOU, for US and I am contacted by the office and OTHER TEACHERS who inform me of the behavior of my classes. I am here FOR YOU. I am learning how to be a better teacher FOR YOU. I am learning how to prepare YOU for the ISAT, for 8th grade, and for high school.

I have been told SPECIFIC students who are acting extremely disrespectfully and to be quite honest with you, I am ashamed. It is one thing to act a certain way with me. It is WRONG to disrespect the teacher when I am gone.

You are disrespecting me, our classroom, Pickard, and most importantly, YOURSELVES when you act this way. If this is you and you know who you are, I would change my actions NOW.

If you have been doing the work that I have left, and YOU feel that this message doesn't apply to you, then I thank you for acting appropriately and making me proud. You guys are the students that I am proud of.  The rest of you have embarrassed me and I am ashamed.

This is all. Now get to work.

Tech Assignment

First off, welcome BAAAAAAAACK! I know everyone is muyyyyy excited to be back at school and ready to LEARN!! Oh...you aren't? Shame on you!

Secondly, as hopefully ALL of you know, I gave you an assignment over winter break. You had to look up 5 websites and write them down for me, remember? 5 sites about your topic for your research paper? Remember now?

Well, I am in a giving mood because if you DID NOT do that over the winter break, you have a chance to finish it now. But I am collecting this later today in Writing so if you dont have it done after tech, you will have to give me what you have so far.

IF YOU FINISHED or if you DID NOT HAVE TO DO IT (if I don't see you for writing, you do not have to do it), then you are free to browse the internet, as long as it is appropriate.

Welcome back and I will see you once you get back from tech.

Adios.
